Keeping our County safe
 The Miami-Dade Police Department is here to help keep our County safe. Police officers do everything from getting the bad guys off the streets to working with high-tech computers in their forensic library.
They risk their lives every day to make sure you’re safe, but you should know how to help keep yourself safe too. Check out some of the Police Department’s tips on how to stay safe around strangers.
MDPD has even gone as far as patrolling the Internet to make sure you’re safe when you’re online. You can help keep your profile safe by adding MDPD as a top friend on MySpace. The MDPD badge will then show up on your page.
 Fun facts
The Miami-Dade Police Department has been charged with keeping the citizens within a 2,109-square-mile area safe. That’s about two million citizens!
There are about 2,900 sworn officers and 1,700 support personnel who work for MDPD.
