About the GovKids Crew

The GovKids Crew are the guides for kids.miamidade.gov. All three members, Tommy, Maria and Reggie have parents that work for Miami-Dade County and each has a special interest in our County.

Maria

Maria is a beach bunny even though her family lives in Doral. Her mom is a bio engineer for DERM, and her dad is a traffic coordinator for Transit. Her older brother Raffi goes to FIU and studies hospitality management.

She is very interested in environmental issues and is a member of the 4-H Club. Some of her favorite activities include the annual Baynanza cleanup, as well as and diving with her dad offshore from their boat.

Being the child of hippies (her parents met at a commune in Berkeley), she is very aware of green living, and is an avid proponent of all the things the County does to adopt a greener way of life.

She is also big on animals; her kitty, Alegra, is a cute orange tabby that her family rescued from Animal Services.

Her interests include gardening, community activism, writing and every manner of watersport.
